Alma Mahler

Valuing the heritage of our European cultural patrimony Denise Ababei aims to create and perform the monodrama Alma Mahler written by Sasho Dimoski within Eastern Theater international artistic residence.

Alma Mahler presents the imagined memories of a talented, passionate woman living in the shadow of a famous husband. The novel deals with Alma' s marriage to the distant and introverted Gustav Mahler, the Austrian late-Romantic composer and conductor, and with many intellectual and emotional sacrifices Alma makes in order to be a support for him. Throughout, Alma wrestles with the tension between her desire to be near genius and her growing awareness that all she ever receive in return for her sacrifice are the great man's silence and the pains of solitude.

Dimoski' Alma Mahler novel inspired Denise Ababei artistically to stage it and she hopes that her performance will delight the audiences from Lublin and everywhere.

With an impressive theoretical background, but also with a rich practical experience on the stage, the professional actress from Romania invites you to enjoy her theatrical performance together.
